BRETT MARCUS COOK
BRISTOL, VIRGINIA
Brett Marcus Cook graduated from East Tennessee State University in December 2011 with a BFA in Graphic Design. Since then, he has been pretty prolific in creating and self-publishing comics as well as designing posters for local punk shows. He also did stand-up comedy for a few months back in 2013, that was pretty cool. His work includes the graphic novelOther Sleep, the webcomic Cannonball Fist, and a body image project called Reflected Gaze.
He's exhibited work at Floating World Comics in Portland, OR. and the William King Museum of Art in Abingdon, VA. He was published in Pretty Deadly by Image Comics in 2014, coloring a one page backup comic written by Kelly Sue DeConnick and illustrated by Xylon Otterburn. He also colored the first and fourth chapters of the Super Mario Bros 2 webcomic.
Some of his biggest influences include, but are not limited to: Philip K. Dick, Warren Ellis, Moebius, John Carpenter, Godzilla, Suda51, and Teddy Roosevelt.
